The entire Rodeo Family is sending their condolences to the family of Barron Gilliam Ritchey, who passed suddenly on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the age of 8 from horrible circumstances no one could have foreseen.

No parent should ever have to go through the pain of losing a child. The emotional and financial toll of a death in the family is heavy enough without factoring in the expense of a funeral.

The Ritchey family, who lost their precious 8-year-old son, Barron Gilliam Ritchey, in an unimaginable accident last Thursday, have our deepest condolences and prayers.

Robby Ritchey, Barron’s dad, is a steer roper, and Barron’s stunning mom, Stephanie, runs barrels. I don’t know Robby very well, but I do know that he went out of his way to be friendly and accommodating when my son Taylor expressed interest in steer roping.

Barron was Robby and Stephanie’s multi-sport youngster who also enjoyed basketball, tag, skiing, his dog Cowboy, and chocolate. It hurts my lullaby-singing mommy heart to hear that he adored hearing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star sung to him before night.

Your rodeo family is expressing their deepest condolences to you, Robby and Stephanie, and hoping for healing for your broken hearts.

On May 3rd, family and friends will gather at Midway Church in Pilot Point, Texas to honor Barron’s life. Private family burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Valley View. Donations in Barron’s memory can be sent to Choice Learning Academy, PO Box 800, Pilot Point, TX 76258 in lieu of flowers.
